Getting a charge out of hybrid perovskites.

چکیده
Until now, metal–organic hybrid perovskites (MOHPs) have been known mainly for their remarkable electronic (1–3) and optical properties, generating immense interest worldwide and offering the potential to realize the goal of highly efficient and inexpensive solar power conversion (1, 4, 5) as well as a wide variety of other optoelectronic applications (6, 7). In an exciting development that promises to electrify the already hot field of MOHPs, Rakita et al. (8) for the first time demonstrate unambiguously that a tetragonal trihalide perovskite is ferroelectric, associated with a spontaneous and reconfigurable ion ordering. This opens the door for the realization of multiple functionalities derived from ferroelectric behavior and a wide range of devices that can be enabled by the juxtaposition of ferroelectricity and the excellent semiconducting and electronic structure properties of MOHPs.

The Relationship between Chemical Flexibility and Nanoscale Charge Collection in Hybrid Halide Perovskites
Hybrid organometal halide perovskites are known for their excellent optoelectronic functionality as well as their wide-ranging chemical flexibility. The composition of hybrid perovskite devices has trended toward increasing complexity as fine-tuned properties are pursued, including multielement mixing on the constituents A and B and halide sites. However, this tunability presents potential chal...
متن کاملSelf-Regulation Mechanism for Charged Point Defects in Hybrid Halide Perovskites**
Hybrid halide perovskites such as methylammonium lead iodide (CH3NH3PbI3) exhibit unusually low free-carrier concentrations despite being processed at low-temperatures from solution. We demonstrate, through quantum mechanical calculations, that an origin of this phenomenon is a prevalence of ionic over electronic disorder in stoichiometric materials. Schottky defect formation provides a mechani...

Perovskite-type oxides of LaFe(1+x)O(3+δ) (x = 0.0, 0.2, 0.5 and 0.7) were synthesized by citrate sol–gel methodto ensure the formation of nanosized perovskites. The physicochemical properties of these LaFe(1+x)O(3+δ)materials were characterized by thermal gravimetric/differential analyses, Fourier transform infraredspectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron and...
متن کاملFerroelectric Domain Wall Induced Band Gap Reduction and Charge Separation in Organometal Halide Perovskites.
Organometal halide perovskites have been intensely studied in the past 5 years, inspired by their certified high photovoltaic power conversion efficiency. Some of these materials are room-temperature ferroelectrics. The presence of switchable ferroelectric domains in methylammonium lead triiodide, CH3NH3PbI3, has recently been observed via piezoresponse force microscopy. Here, we focus on the s...
متن کاملAre Mobilities in Hybrid Organic−Inorganic Halide Perovskites
Actually “High”? T outstanding performance of hybrid organic−inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) in photovoltaic (PV) devices is made possible by, among other things, outstanding semiconducting properties: long real charge carrier diffusion lengths, L, of up to 5 and possibly even 10 μm, as well as a lifetime τ of ∼1 μs or more in single-crystal and polycrystalline films. Top electronic transport mat...
